Over time something important has become clear; Murrumbateman and Spring are one of those rare combinations that can produce something truly exciting. Below is how we spent our perfect day out.
Mid-morning: Four Winds Vineyard Cellar Door
Start your day at the rustic farmyard; the cellar door features some fabulous old and repurposed materials. Wooden picking bins clad the building, wine barrels for furniture and wine bottle windows. Feeling like a spot of brunch? The food is simple, yet delicious. Our pick is the potato and gorgonzola pizza!
Lunch: Poachers Pantry
Sit down to a divine lunch in the Smokehouse Café and indulge in a gourmet experience and try the incredible range of smoked meats. The property boasts a beautifully restored 1930s weatherboard farm cottage. Don’t forget to purchase lunchtime favourites from the farm shop and cellar door on your way out.
Early afternoon: Clonakilla Wines
Unwind after lunch and try some of the best shiraz Australia has to offer. Clonakilla’s head winemaker, Tim Kirk recently won winemaker of the year for his highly acclaimed Shiraz Viognier; the wineries crowning achievement thus far.
