The Canberra skyline will become a canvas for a stunning display of colours when the 2017 Balloon Spectacular takes off.
Held over nine days from March 11-19, the Canberra Balloon Spectacular is renowned as being one of the world’s best hot air ballooning events.
For a special experience you can book a spot on a balloon flight and enjoy the best views over Canberra at morning light. Ballooning is weather dependent and flights may be delayed or cancelled as a result.
Balloons are inflated each morning from 6.15am on the lawns of Old Parliament House in Parkes where they will launch from between 6.30am to 7.00am.
Spectators can watch in awe as balloons of all shapes and sizes drift over Lake Burley Griffin and some of the city’s iconic national buildings. In addition to the visual feast, there will be music and food available for purchase, with Belconnen Lions cooking up breakfast until 10.00am. Alternatively you can bring your own food and relax on a picnic rug as the balloons take flight.
Don’t forget to scour the sky to try and spot the Abode Hotel balloon!
