See Canberra in a different light this Autumn when many of the city’s national attractions open their doors after-hours to host an array of exclusive events and surprising experiences.
Over nine illuminated nights the whole family can enjoy free and ticketed events such as blockbuster exhibitions and rare films, captivating architectural projections, intriguing live music and performances, stand-up comedy, thrilling tours into the depths of our national attractions, exclusive dining experiences and more. A key feature of Enlighten is the stunning architectural projections that transform the Parliamentary Triangle for nine nights.
The Electric Canvas and selected artists will present designs across six iconic buildings: Australian Parliament House, Old Parliament House, National Library of Australia, Questacon, National Portrait Gallery and National Gallery of Australia.
Following the popularity of its inaugural year, 10 Canberra restaurants will feature as part of the 2016 Enlighten Night Noodle Markets as the event returns with more space, more food and more stall holders.
Among the local restaurants serving their cuisine at the markets will be Lilotang, Chairman & Yip, Soi Noodle Bar and Kimiachi Tei, with more than 25 stalls spanning across both sides of the grass at Reconciliation Place.
Crowds are expected to flock to the shores of Lake Burley Griffin to enjoy a diverse offering of Asian eats against the stunning backdrop of six of Australia’s most iconic institutions lit up after dark.
In an exciting development for the 2016 markets, Black Star Pastry and N2 Extreme Gelato will be bringing their dessert collaboration to Canberra after making waves across Night Noodle and Lunar Markets nationally with their impressive desserts.
“The Canberra Times is proud to get behind the Enlighten Night Noodle Markets, which are part of Good Food Month and will showcase the city’s growing street food scene. There is also a chance for Canberrans to taste delicious dishes from across the country, such as Bao Stop and Hoy Pinoy,” Natasha Rudra, The Canberra Times Food and Wine Editor said.
The 2016 Enlighten Night Noodle Markets will run from 4-13 March in the heart of the Parliamentary Triangle. It also features in The Canberra Times Good Food Month, presented by Citi’s, mouth-watering program.
