Abode Hotels is proud to announce its new community partnership with Cricket ACT as the naming rights sponsor of the ACT Meteors women’s cricket team.
In an announcement made earlier today at Manuka Oval – the team’s home ground – Abode Hotels will support the Meteors for the next three years in addition to becoming an official accommodation partner of Cricket ACT.
GEOCON General Manager Hotels, Rien Donkin said the company was excited about the opportunity to support the team, which is paving the way for future generations of cricket players.
“Partnering with the ACT Meteors was a perfect fit with our values and mission of building communities and lifestyle with a family focus,” he said.
“We had no hesitation when we were presented with an opportunity to support an organisation that has aspirations of growth, that gives back to the community and is providing great role models for junior cricketers and sport in the Canberra region.
“We look forward to supporting the success of this group of extraordinary athletes and their dedicated staff.”
CACT CEO Cameron French said Cricket ACT is delighted to form a partnership with Canberra’s largest hotel brand, Abode Hotels, and reveal the newly named Abode Hotels ACT Meteors for the next three years.
“We are proud to have a local Canberra business become the Meteors’ most valuable partner in the team’s history,” he said.
“The partnership with Abode Hotels will enable Cricket ACT to continue to provide support for the Meteors to help grow the team’s profile and enhance player development, aligning with one of the key priorities of increasing the participation of women and girls in cricket.
“I consider this partnership to be a fantastic step towards professionalising the game for women. It’s a very exciting journey for us to be embarking on, and we can’t wait to see what this exciting partnership produces.”
Mr French said the players’ well-being was paramount and the partnership would also help minimise the impact of travel on interstate squad members through Abode Hotels providing the team and officials a ‘home away from home’ whenever they were in town.
The Meteors will kick off the season at home with a day/night match against defending champions – the Breezair South Australian Scorpions – on October 30. We have released a special Meteors accommodation package for that weekend with more details of the package are available here.
