There are 7,500 people each year that travel from interstate to visit loved ones receiving treatment at Canberra Hospital. A lot of the time with the whole family in tow or at the other end of the spectrum, when only one family member is able to visit as the cost of accommodation is just too high.
Accommodation prices can reach incredibly large amounts for families and with the possibility of patients’ treatments lasting some time, the costs definitely add up.
The Canberra Hospital Foundation supports these families that find themselves away from home while they support a loved one receiving treatment, including through providing accommodation.
GEOCON and Abode Hotels have banded together with the Canberra Hospital Foundation to lend their hand and provide some much needed support.
Abode Hotels is proud to support the Foundation with the donation of a two-bedroom family room at Abode Woden that can accommodate up to four people for extended stays.
We understand that a family member receiving treatment for any condition at a hospital is an extremely difficult time both emotionally and financially without having the stress of accommodation whilst wanting to keep close.
In celebration of the partnership, a small ribbon cutting event at the hotel was held to open the room to future guests of the Canberra Hospital.
We look forward to welcoming many guests who unfortunately find themselves in this difficult position and hope to relieve some of the stress of such a situation.
